Head of Developer Relations

Daily is WebRTC video and audio for every developer. We're building the APIs and infrastructure to power the future of video, and the Internet.

Developers use Daily to add real-time video and audio experiences to any product. They can integrate a fully working call in minutes. Our features range from prebuilt UIs and lower level APIs to call quality data and global infrastructure and compliance. We serve developers across use cases — like events, productivity, edtech, and healthcare — and at every size team. We're a remote team led by seasoned executives, with over $60 million raised.

The Role

Daily is developer-first. We aim to make it as easy as possible for developers to learn about us, get excited, and start building. From the first launch of our API, we've prioritized creating resources — like great docs, developer tutorials, and sample code — available to every developer.

Developer relations is central in this approach, and we're now hiring a Head of Developer Relations, to lead and expand our work. We are looking for a leader to play a key role at a growth stage company. In this role, you’ll work closely with executives and our cofounders.

Broadly, you'll guide the group's strategy and execution; your goals include:

* Build developer awareness of Daily. You'll help us become the leading WebRTC and video platform, in developer mindshare.

* Increase developer knowledge and excitement around video and WebRTC. You love helping developers learn, in ways that are useful and delightful, and supporting developer communities.

* Help improve our time-to-value for developers building on Daily. You ensure we're creating the resources (like sample apps and tutorials) developers want and need.

* Our devrel team today is composed of Engineers Who Write, who focus on content and sample code. Culturally, devrel at Daily is anchored in engineering and writing. You'll support this environment while guiding the team’s growth. In addition to iterating on our content and code strategy, you’ll help us expand to other formats (like livestreams) and efforts — in particular, community, events, and evangelism.

* Developer relations at Daily reports to our executive colleague with a deep background in WebRTC technology, product, and community.

Most of all, we're looking for colleagues who want to be part of a great team, build a product they're proud of, and also go after a big opportunity. If you share that POV, we'd love for you to consider joining us.

What You'll Do:

* Lead developer relations to achieve company goals in developer awareness, engagement, and education

* Create and enact a devrel strategy that’s comprehensive across channels, including content, sample code and resources, community, events, and evangelism

* Provide clear frameworks and direction to prioritize efforts with your team, while involving them in the process

* Manage a content pipeline across format including tutorials, webinars, livestreams, screencasts, and formats that make us useful, effective, and relevant to developers

* Help define and grow our developer community

* Foster a culture of creativity, where devrel tries out ideas and best practices

* Work with your team so they're productive, feel productive and happy, and are growing

* Set, maintain and report on metrics and analysis of team performance

* Contribute to cross-functional efforts involving both engineering and growth. You'll work regularly with teams including product, solutions engineering, support, and marketing.

What You'll Need:

* 5+ years in developer relations management

* Alignment with our team values, especially kindness and diversity

* A passion to grow, and a deft touch with process. You are good at creating and supporting processes where it helps your team, while also helping them, and the company, be nimble.

* Alignment with our engineering culture. Ideally, we'd love it if you could build with our API. We also value proven experience, and are glad to hear about your background managing engineers in growth, marketing, or devrel at developer-first platforms.

* An emphasis on clear writing

More about Daily:
